ROCKWELL TYPE SPECIMEN
In showcasing the Rockwell font family, I set out to show the clean industrial precision of the family. It was important to bring the typeface from it's original 1934 industrial origin and showcase it in a modern, post industrial revolution environment. Using a bold pure yellow the specimen shows how the typeface so naturally conveys the quality of modern clean energy and science in todays industry.
After identifying the personality of Rockwell and how I wanted to portray that, I began researching and focusing on the details of this project. Illustrating the R in a deconstructed wireframe style represents the look of an instruction manual. Other details like the type family representing an eye chart to embody the scientific aspect of the project, the imagery being windmills and cargo containers express industry and clean energy, and choosing a raw metal staple binding to show the construction of the book in an industrial way.
