CUT + SEW: Branding, Web, Editorial
Cut and sew is a fashion resource that breaks the mold for resources within the industry. For years the fashion industry was highly exclusive and rather daunting to enter as someone with little experience. Fashion and menswear specifically, is growing rapidly. Equally high fashion is spreading to the masses and more and more people are becoming interested in high fashion. As high fashion or designer wear becomes more popular, people are becoming more interested in why it costs more and the history of fashion and trends. People are becoming more interested in how these pieces are made as well. More articles and information are coming to surface and becoming more readily available as the demand grows. However, they are still scattered and diverse. This creates almost a scavenger hunt for users that results in a plethora of browser tabs and books then have to be picked through to create even a general competency. There isn’t a single book, website, or hub that contains this information let alone links to these resources. Having a one-stop-shop for all of this information could not only provide resources for those that are already knowledgeable, but could create a less daunting and exhausting learning experience for those that are new to this world. However cut and sew aims to create this resource that is accessible to all, easy to use, and visually compelling.
The editorial aspect of cut and sew focuses more on the news aspect of the product and delivers a tangible product to those who still love print. Time has shown again and again that fashion and print mix well as there is a tactile aspect appreciated amongst those who admire fashion. More often than not, those who enjoy fashion also enjoy books, magazines, reading, and home decor; therefore cut and sew exists as a perfect coffee table magazine.
